Although no “Père Lachaise” cemetery Campo Santo is a beautiful place to visit, both for the soothing environment and for the special monuments, designed by renowned architects and sculptors.

The cemetery is also known by the dozens of famous deceased who have been laid to rest here. The best known are Jan Frans Willems a Flemish writer and father of the Flemish movement, Filip De Pillecijn a Flemish writer, Rosalie Loveling a Flemish author (of poetry, novels and essays), Joseph Guislain a Belgian physician and pioneer in psychiatry, Hélène De Reuse a Belgian painter, Frans Masereel a Flemish painter and graphic artist and Camille D’Have a Belgian artist.

The Church, monuments, and cemetery also offer a beautiful background for a serene photo session.

Het monumentale kerkhof biedt trouwens een prachtig decor voor serene fotosessies .
